If you are not someone who doesn't read my blogs or haven't seen any magician manhwa... Then welcome to Manhwa Magicians University.
It's a typical Magician storyline but it works fantastic. The Talent swallowing magician which I highly recommend to watch is based on similar structure.
The Book Eating Magician (Book Eater) is yet another addition to these genre.
Well, The Book Eating magician and Talent Swallowing magician... You get the idea right.

But, There is something very different about this Manhwa..
Of course, The Book Eating Magician has Magic Academy, Magic Tower , Empires , Demons and Monsters.... But Also Seven Deadly Sins. Does that make any difference....
Probably not, But It makes it different from rest of the magicians.
Our protagonist is Theodore Miller. The only son of Baron Miller family. He gets admission into the Bergen Magic Academy. He is the smartest student in tests and get full marks. His theoretical knowledge about magic is comparable with professors. But, He always fails to graduate. The reason is his practical exams. Theodore can't use magic. Even after 5 years in academy, He is only 2nd circle magician and Therefore, He is unable to Graduate.
Anyone has to become at least 3-Circle Magician to graduate from Magic Academy. Theodore Miller being stuck in one class for 3 years has become more of a nuisance for other students as well as professors. He gets mocked for his inability and always bullied.
His only well-wisher is Prof. Vince Haidel, The Archeology Professor. Vince has always supported Theodore and also aware of his ability to learn magic. Vince is very fond of Theodore, So he is the one to recommend him to stay in the Academy even after failing.
This was the 3rd and the last time he could do something like this.... He warns Theodore. Theodore gets disheartened and get back to his usual place. The library.
Even though the Library is quite big and has millions of books... No one except Theodore goes to library.
As He was reading magic history books, A Black Book from a shelf suddenly peeks at him. The Black Book looked unknown to Theodore. He tried pulling it from the shelf but...
The Book changed into a Big black monster and ate him whole.
When Theodore opened his eyes, He saw black slime coming from his left hand. The Slime ball had eyes and it spoke to him.

Just like that, Theodore realizes the thing he got is nothing short of a miracle and a blessing.
The Black Slime was known to be a parasitic grimoire and also one of the Seven deadly sins, The Curse of Gluttony. Gluttony has the power to eat everything that can make him and his host stronger.
Gluttony told Theodore that he needs to feed him 4 High quality books or object per day to satisfy his hunger and also keep himself alive. In return of books, He can answer one question every day with all his knowledge of million years.
Theodore think of feeding other magical objects than Books since someone might notice the missing books. He can use the abilities of swallowed magical objects as well.
He visits black market to get magic items. His left hand can appraise any object and tell it's worth. A Status window appears before him after every action from Gluttony. (It's something like notification)
He immediately becomes friends with the black market shop women. The Women vows her name and forms a contract to give him best quality items and in return he will become her Appraiser. Vows and Contracts are very important things in this magical world. One cannot betray his own promise or break contract. Any attempt to break a contract is nullified.
It was end of summer vacation and Academy was about to start with freshers. Theodore has to exercise and build his body to be ready to handle his increasing magic power and his man capacity, thanks to Gluttony.
The professor's tried to bully him again, But This time they fail. Theodore shows his new 3rd Circle magic powers.
Prof. Vince Haidel knows something is different in Theodore Miller. He asks him about if something is wrong with him or he is using black magic to increase his capabilities. But, Theodore doesn't want to lie to someone who helped him a these years...
Theodore shows Gluttony to Vince.
Vince knows about Glutonny since He has studied about Parasitic Grimoires and also their hunger for their hosts.
Vince gets worried for Theodore But Gluttony told him about him being A Seven Deadly Sin. Vince comes to a understanding that Glutonny is someone who chooses his own host and make it stronger. The Books he ate, He can also look into the memories of Authors and also form a connection with them.
As an Archeologist, Vince wants to learn more about History and Magic.
Vince vows to his name and promises to Theodore to help him get stronger and also keep glutony as secret.
Vince gives him the Book of Spiritual King. Gluttony swallows it and sends Theodore into the memories of Spiritual Spirit Master who once summoned the Spirit King.
He knows about Theodore and tolds Him that his existence was known by spirits too.
The Ancient Earth Spirit personally comes to Theodore and makes him his Contractor.
Vince takes him as his pupil and also takes him to Magic Capital Manaville.
Manaville is place for Magic Tower. The Magic Tower is divided in Four Towers by their attribute and Colors .
Red for Fire.
Blue for Water.
Yellow for Wind.
Green for Earth.
Vince is a superior member of Red Tower and 5th circle magician.
In the Magic Council happening at Manaville, He thinks Theodore would participate in National Magic Competition, Pupil Tournament.
If He wins the Tournament, He can graduate from Academy and also get recognition form the King Himself.
Theodore joins him on his journey to Manaville.
There they meet Blundell Adruncus The 8th Circle Magician and his Disciple Sylvia Adruncus.
Their battle is going to be a drive everyone crazy here....
But, This was just the beginning of the upcoming battle for Theodore Miller.
His own village is getting attacked by Orges and unknown monsters.
The existence of another grimoires is found to be in Miller Village.
The Other Sins are already aware of Gluttony eating grimoires to get stronger.
Gluttony and Theodore have become enemies of Sins and the Demons waiting for them.

The story is yet to be flourished and there are so many unknown and questions to be answered. I would say, There is a world waiting to be discovered by Theodore.
The Animation and Artstyle is great. Yeah..
It's blurry, dusty and noisy but it makes it more interesting since it seems like watching a manhwa with a noise filter. Well, Personally I would have appreciate a more clean artsyle but It's nothing bad you know. The character designs are impressive as it gets.

With around 43+ chapters, The Book eating magician is great manhwa. I can promise you will enjoy it.
