This blog is story and a journey of Me buying a laptop. This journey has taught me the most important lessons of my life.
So please so stay with me for a while...
Let's start with the beginning....
I took admission for IT Engineering ..
In a Private Institute of Pune University.
I got admission in 2018 and until now that I'm in the last year of my engineering, 7th semester out of 8 semester .. I am going to be a Engineer in just couple of Months ... Still I don't have any Laptop.
There is no surprise , that
This is a huge disadvantage if you are an IT engineer . Speacilaly these days when you have to attend classes and Exams in Online mode.
Fortunately , I was blessed by some really good friends who helped me in those tough times. They gave their own time and laptop to make sure I was able to study and give my exams.
I never had to worry about it.
So , Lesson no.1 : Real Friends are the one's who will help you in your tough times.Even if you have nothing , Your Friends will stay with you . So, Find Real Friends ... Stay with them.
You don't need 100 , just 2 are enough.
In my second year , I decided to buy a laptop but I was filtering them by my budget and making a list. I know everyone does this when buying a laptop...
I needed a simple looking laptop which can be called "Value for money" and Also fulfil my needs. I am not a gamer specifically but I do love games.. Maybe that makes me a gamer perhaps.
There is something I want share about me.... I am huge Anime Fan. Im really inspired by japanese animes , So, I'm an Proud Otaku.
This Passion for animes, became a reason to change my future career ..
In the beginning of Our Third Year of Engineering , We were given a Choice to select a Honor subject... It was new concept in 2020 for our University and We were the First batch to get this Opportunity.. As per new Education System, In 2021 , Everyone has to take a honor subject , But we were given a Choice !
Now that we were given a Choice , That means we can choose to either take it or leave it.
These Honor Subjects were Cyber Security , AI and ML , Data Science and other... In short, all New technologies. So , Many students were taking advantage of the opportunity and taking AI , Cloud Computing and these Big names as their Honors Subjects.
And One of those Subjects was
VR and AR.
I took it !
I am the only person in my class to choose VR and AR as honor subject ... The reason was just because I'm an anime fan and I have seen many Isekai animes. Ok that was true , but not entirely ...
I know the potential VR and AR has to offer. There was some kind of voice that was telling me , "This is it , This is it that you want to do , This is going to change everything" ..."The reason you took Engineering , The reason you got this Subject as Honor "
I was so excited !!
I told every person from my class , "Hey , You have to choose Vr and AR as Honor Subject , It's going to be big .. I know it ".
And Guess what ,
Not everybody listened. I am not that Talented or Special at College so maybe that was the reason.
Some of my friends know it , because they were anime fans , But even they refused to take it.. Simply because it's risky and tiring to add another paper into your Exams .
They are not wrong , because we have to study our honor subjects on our own!! There is no one going to teach these subjects . We can ask our teachers but I was not confident enough to think they will know answers for it.
Like Come on , Some of my intelligent friends, Don't even know the Full form of VR.
But , I took it .. Even though I don't know anything about it or Can I even learn it , Without any external help and laptop at this point .
So lesson no.2 : Always believe in your choices , Don't try to copy others. You have to take risks in life.
It's 2020, end of my second year and onto my Third year with VR and AR as honours still I haven't bought my Laptop.
And Humanity got hit by Covid-19.
It was a big mess. All of a sudden , We got almost 2 months break from All college things. We were free and have locked in our homes ..
All of a sudden , everyone was thinking of becoming a scientist and Trying to make vaccines of their own.
People come to know about WHO and what it does .. It was a peak time .
Some say , Humanity will end by 2025 and some said it will take 10 years make Vaccine. End of World , Gods Wrath , China's Virus , World War 3... And discussing about going to Mars ... Etc etc
Reporters were only counting the numbers and It was giving people more Fear than Hope . Personally I think , TV channels should give hope even if the world is going to end .. why make people suffer by telling something that will hurt their feelings. I mean tell the truth but not to such extent that will crumble their belief.
Eventually , it was controlled by lockdowns and quarantines as well as Vaccinations. Thanks to Uday Sawant Ji, Colleges were opening but for Online Classes only. Everyone was working from home .
By This time, it become my necessity to buy a laptop . I was sure that , It will be big disadvantage for me if I don't get a laptop soon.
So I tried making for spec's for my needs.. now that I needed a laptop with a powerful graphics card capable of Handling my reckless things that I want to learn VR.
After watching several months of Youtube , I finally found some descent laptops which can be my first laptops. The top name in the list was Razorblade 15 and as you may all know , It's unavailable in India. I dropped the idea.
At this point of my life, I was not worried of money , because my expenses at home were to minimum. There was no hostel fees and no mess fees.
I was looking for a laptop for around 100000 rs / say 1500 $. With New Gen RTX and good power.
100000 rs was my limit !! I can't go past that or my father will kick me out.
On January 2021 , Asus Rog launched It's new gaming laptop , Asus Rog Zephyrus G15.
It has RTX 3060 , Ryzen 9 5900 processor and basically everything I would need to be able to do thing that I want to do for next 5 years.
I started taking actions , I visited official Asus Rog website and I found that, it was not available in India as of the moment .
It took 1 month for it to launch in India. On February 3rd , Asus Zephyrus G15 2021 was launched and it took another month to be seen on Amazon and Flipkart. On the month of March and April I was looking to buy it ...
I was hyped and so were many other ... I tweeted , " It was going to be my First laptop so please make it affordable".
Asus Rog Zephyrus G15 was launched at 150000 rs . It was 50% more price that of in its original price. Sure, It was because of our government taxes ..But Boy that's a lot of taxes .
But Guess what , they were sold off.
No flipkart, Amazon nor any other Offline retails have Rog Zephyrus G15.
In an instance , It was Month of August.
Still after 4 months , Zephyrus G15 was out of Stock Everywhere !!
I am now in the Last year of my IT engineering and I desperately need to get a laptop Asap. I was literally feeling like I would fall behind in my studies .
I personally messaged Asus_Rog_In to make it available and Please make it under 1.5 lakh so that I can afford it.
And Guess what ,
They didn't even see that message.. it's just there... I have messaged then twice !! But no luck... Well it doesn't matter anyway , I know they clearly get millions of msgs like this everyday.
So lesson no.3 : Don't hesitate to ask for help but Ask only once. The person who wants to help you , Will give his reply the first time you ask for help. Don't ask for help twice .
Just it hurts your pride and you might lose your trust.
On 15th August , India's Independence Day which is my Bday, Asus launched their Asus eshop in India . Just like me , Many other people asked them to get Zephyrus in Stock. But I think , Asus people never read their comment section.
As I completely lost my faith in Asus Eshop India... I reached out to some of the youtubers to help me get the me the laptop... Of course I was going to pay them , I don't want it for free!! I just need to get it from other country for lower price , That was the issue.
So who better than our Own Indian Best Youtuber..
Technical Guruji !!
I tweeted to Technical Guruji ,"Help me get the Zephyrus G15 laptop , I want to buy it " ...
Guess what, No luck !! I guess it never reached to him... He would have replied, right ?
I was looking for everyway possible to buy this laptop...
I even tweeted to Mr. Dinesh Sharma , who is Business Head of Asus India , To help me buy Asus Zephyrus G15 , And Guess what ...
He didn't even liked my tweet !!
I guess , Even this tweet haven't reached him.
I was hopeless at this point... and Eventually it was September then November... I kept Tweeting and Tweeting...
Asking at local Croma Stores and Every Retail Store in Pune and Kolhapur.. For Asus Zephyrus G15 and they said Rog Series was only available online and You should buy it online..
But the Stock Issues were creating big mess for customers everywhere... I knew, I was not the only one !!
In the first week of December , I saw a miracle !!
Asus Zephyrus G15 was available on Flipkart as well as Amazon !! I thought it was a scam... How can this be !=?
There is no way it's available !!
On Flipkart it was 139990 rs and on Amazon it was 152000 rs.
I do know they are best online services.. But why do they have different Prices ?
I decided to go with Flipkart just because it was cheaper than Amazon .
Still , 140000 rs was way out of my hands... It too much . I was expecting it to be 125000 rs but It was 15000 extra .
I was so worried , about how can I convince my father for such great price.
I was not ready for it .
But when I told about my things and Why I want this laptop... How can I learn much more things than any other cheap laptop...
He said , "It's alright , Just tell me when you need it. We will buy it".
Honestly , I do come from a decent family ..I mean middle class family . But he making this decision right in just 10 minutes conversation made me feel like a Prince of Royal Household.
I was overjoyed... The first thought came to my mind was I don't deserve it. Because there is no way I have proved anything to deserve such reply in mere minutes .
I am so lucky to have such father . It's the best gift to have.
But , I know my worth , I'm not a prince so I wanted to avail the Discounts on Flipkart as well . The Only discount was 7000 rs for Axis Bank Credit card !!
And Guess what ...
No one in our family or my family friends has a Axis Bank Credit Card.
One of the my friend do have Axis Bank credit card but it's limit was 1 lakh .
I searched for almost 10 days for this card but no luck.
Then again , I searched whole YouTube to buy laptop in cheaper way possible .. and I was introduced with GST Invoice .
Many of you might know this , But I will give you some introduction.
If you have a gst no. You can buy the laptop for upto 28% discount . You just need to apply for GST return policy.
I asked many of my businessmen friends and Even a CA friend to help me get a GST no. But no one has it ... They never applied for GST no. because it is very tough and always the billing should be in place.. GST return has to be done with the help of Accountant who takes fees .. it is not easy task.
And after few days ... my GST search came to an end.
It was already late to buy a laptop at this point.. Only 5 months remain for my Engineering. My friends suggested me to build a pc rather than buying a 150000 rs laptop.
Even i was thinking the same.
But , when I told my father about this... he said , " You want Zephyrus G15 right, So why built a PC.. you want a G15 so let's Buy G15 ... No any other.. The only thing you can't afford to do in life is Having Regrets , Do what you want to do ".
So lesson no. 4 : Do whatever you want in life ... So that you don't have regrets.
Now , that Our sponsor was ready , I clicked on Buy now in Flipkart and Guess what...
We don't have a Atm Card which can pay 140000 at one time !!
The payment limit is 100000 rs only.
I thought it was God's will to not let me buy this laptop ... I was thinking of abandoning it . I tried 7 times with different payment methods but it was a failure. No method was in place to buy it.
I lost hope .. i thought buying Acer Predator Helios 300 would be great choice , now that it was available for 99000 rs.
Right when , i was losing my intrest in G15.... My father called me and said "I got a Friend who has Credit card which has limit more than 2 lakh ".
I said , "Ask him if he can order the Laptop ".
And Guess what ,
He ordered it !!!
On December 15 2021 , I ordered the Asus Rog Zephyrus G15 2021 GA503QM 173S Laptop from Flipkart for 139990 rs.
It was big deal for me.
It was the most expensive thing I Ever bought in my life and it was online .
The Friends name is Rahul CM Patil . He is an Engineer from my village and well known.
He told me , the expected arrival was on 18th of Dec and shared the screenshot of the order.
I was happy , probably it was the 2nd happiest moment of 2021.
I was really exited for 18th Dec .
But , guess what ..
It never arrived on 18th.
I was not sad because , I know I Live in village far form any urban area , it will take another 2 days.
So I waited ..
It was 21 Dec ... And Still the package was not arrived ..
I was disappointed in flipkart .. i was sad. I tweeted to flipkart about my order and they told me to wait for another 2 days....
On 23 Dec , I was really having a bad day.. and Also bad feeling.
I searched for The TBL who was seller for my order.
You will not believe the reviews on their company .

I was completely disheartened by their rating and I was thinking I was getting scamed on flipkart.
I was really afraid at this point . I ordered it on 15th Dec and it was past 9 days now and still the product was not delivered .
But , Rahul Da assured me that he has contacted by the delivery person and he will deliver it tomorrow. I was taken aback... I was making plans for making the Delivery man's Open box delivery video. Checking everything about the laptop.
On 24 Dec , At 3 pm I got a call from father .. "The delivery man has arrived."
I went home ..
You will not believe me , But the delivery man dropped the box once..
My heart skipped a beat . When he said that He will not the box , because there is no open box policy return on this delivery.
I was angry but I kept a nice tone and told him , This box has a laptop and I paid 139900 rs for it .. He said ..Okay ..And Started opening it.
I was so nervous at this point. I had seen many unboxing videos on YouTube so I knew how would the genuine laptop box look like .
The moment he opened the boxed.. I knew it ... This is my laptop ..
Asus Rog Zephyrus G15 .. . This is the box.. I have seen in videos .
He opened the box and it was the 1st Happiest moment of 2021.
It didn't have the charge ..But I knew by the packed box and it's packed case ..It was untouched.
The Delivery man left and I put on the charger .
It started with a Republic of Gamers boom and I felt at ease.
My mother and father were present at the moment . They were probably more happier than me . I was just standing there looking at my laptop and thinking, how can this tiny Laptop be more valuable Royal Enfield Bullet bike!!
But Deep down I knew it.. It was worth it. It was an investment.. An Asset not a liability.
It took almost A year to buy this laptop .. From December 2020 to December 2021. I may have lost my hope but still I never gave up. I had my father to give me the support whenever I needed . It was my patience which took me to this end and I was so proud of that moment.
I was destined to buy this laptop.
So, lesson no.5 : Have patience and Stay with what you believe in . Destiny will lead to end you want .
I got my own Asus Rog Zephyrus G15 on 24 Dec and It became my Christmas present from my father .
I registered it on 25 Dec 2021 .
My mobile phone was also bought on 25 Dec 2019 and It felt like a Deja vo...
My most expensive things in life ..
My laptop and my phone Realme X2 pro, both have the same date as their Bday !!
I thank, my father for always supporting in what I do and always believing in me. I'm truly blessed by heavens.
I thank, Rahul Patil Dada for helping me buy this laptop. You were like an Angel sent by heavens to help us without anything in return. Thanx a lot.
I also want to thank Flipkart and TBL and everyone involved who delivered me this Dream product . I will always Cherish it .
It is the end of Story of My laptop.
This story gives me hope and self belief that If you have patience and friends who help you in your hard times ... You will eventually get whatever you want .. You just have to hold on and never give up .
This reminds me of Famous SRK dialog : Itni shiddat se maine tumhe paane ki koshish ki hai … ki har zarre ne mujhe tumse milane ki saazish ki hai , Kehte hai Agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaaho to puri kayanat usey tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai.
